Celatom® DE Fine Fillers have unique properties, including
high bulking values, low levels of oil absorption, uniformity
and porosity, making them leading fillers, absorbents and
carriers.
Celatom® DE Fine Fillers can be used in a number of filler
applications, including:
Paint
and Coat Applications
The unique properties of Celatom® Diatomite make it one
of the finest paint pigment extenders and flatting agents.
Special low crystalline silica grades are now available
Advantages of using Celatom®
diatomite in paint:
- Uniformly controls gloss and sheen
- High flatting efficiency
- Increases toughness and durability
- Controls vapour permeability
- Low levels of absorption
- High bulking value
- Improves physical and mechanical properties
of surface coatings

Abrasive
Polishes and Cleaning Wax
Celatom® products are excellent fillers in mild polishing
agents as well as more hard-hitting cleaning waxes.

Agricultural
Uses:
Seed Coatings
Precision planting techniques: These require seeds to be coated
with Celatom® to increase their size, therefore making
them easier to plant with greater precision.
Anticaking Agents: Celatom® MN-35 is an absorptive low
density DE powder which is an effective anti-caking agent
for fertilisers, pesticides and other agricultural products
requiring conditioning.
Pesticide Formulations: Natural Celatom® Diatomite is
used in dry and wettable powder formulations.

Anti-block
Small quantities of Celatom® are added to low-density
polyethylene film as an anti-blocking agent.

Asphalt
Mix
As an extender, Celatom® significantly raises the softening
point of asphalt to minimise cracking.

Automotive
Safety Glass
Celatom® Shield Release acts as a parting agent in windshield
manufacture.

Catalyst
Supports
Uniformity, high surface area, high absorption and inertness
make Celatom® products superior catalyst supports. Celatom®
is utilised world-wide in the production of phosphoric acid,
nickel and vanadium pentoxide catalysts.

Concrete
Admix
As a concrete additive, Celatom® decreases the segregation
of aggregates, reduces bleeding, and improves cohesiveness,
workability and pumpability. Concretes are stronger, less
permeable and more resistant to acids.

Dental
Mould and Impressions
Celatom® is a primary component in dental impression/moulding
compounds. These inert products provide bulking, absorption,
porosity and aid in controlling dimensional stability.

Drilling
Muds
Celatom® is an effective extender in drilling mud formulations,
which aids in the suspension of drill cuttings. Celatom®
lowers and stabilises cement density in drilling cement and
spacer fluids. Celatom® Diatomite and perlite can also
be found on the List of Approved Products suitable for use
by the North Sea Oil and Gas industry.

Filter
Paper and Pads
The uniform bulking, permeability and purity of Celatom®
ensures filter pads and sheets are of consistent high quality.
Foundry
and Metallurgical Applications
(Ladle Insulation, Hot Top Compounds, Liners and Tundish Powder)
The low bulk density of Celatom® and its high melting
point make it an ideal insulator in metallurgical applications.
Matches
Celatom® is an absorptive, porous carrier that can be
used for controlling burning rate, preventing spalling and
reducing afterglow.

Waste
Disposal
Celatom® Solid-A-Sorb products are free flowing, essentially
dust-free, non-biodegradable and highly absorbent.

AXIS is a unique granular diatomaceous earth, calcined at
high temperatures to enhance its soil amendment qualities.
The hard, amorphous, silica-based diatom skeletons have pores
designed by nature to accommodate air and water movement.
The open cells of AXIS hold water in reserve until plant roots
draw it out while also aiding air movement.
Research and tests at several American
universities reveal the benefits of using AXIS:
- At Ohio State University, AXIS was shown
to help improve the performance of USGA-specified golf greens
by making more water available to turf plants(link to full
case study)
- At the University of Florida, AXIS was
shown to increase the vigour of Hibiscus in 1-gallon containers,
resulting in a 39.9% size increase over plants grown in
containers without AXIS(link to full case study)
- At Rutgers University, AXIS was shown
to outperform other inorganic amendments in USGA sand-based
greens(link to full case study)
- At Iowa State University, tests verified
that AXIS maintains its physical integrity during freeze-thaw
cycles, answering concerns about particle degradation during
winter cycles(link to full case study
